If you are new to property management, you probably already know how much the industry demands. Property managers are responsible for handling the rent checks, paying the vendors, keeping the tenants happy, and everything else in between. The job can be very challenging. At the same time, however, we would like to think that everyone who does this job enjoys it. We know that we do.
If you are a property manager, you might be tempted to take on more than you can handle, especially if the property isn’t generating enough income for you. But remember, you are not in charge of Property management software someone else’s money. It’s their house, and if you lose control of your emotions, you are more likely to make mistakes. There are times when we have to ask for help, or at least delegate responsibility, but we have to be sure we can handle whatever task we’re asked to do.
A good rule of thumb is to delegate tasks that you can do yourself, and only assign those jobs that you are qualified to handle. A good manager knows how to delegate effectively, and makes sure to review with their staffs how they are performing.
